Original concept drawing with hand lettering "SILLY or CRAZY ALPHABET" by Norman Saunders, as a proposed new series. In 1967 Norman Saunders was hired to paint the "LOVE LETTERS" series and he spontaneously proposed a new idea for a different alphabet series based on these twisted creatures which are contorted into letter shapes. They all have transluscent balloon-like skin which is bulging under constrained pressure and yet they all have nutty gleeful expressions. All of the images are designed and painted by Norman Saunders.
